Chelsea Women Win 6-0 Against Aston Villa Women

Highlights and Reaction

Chelsea Women continued their unbeaten start to the season with a resounding 6-0 victory over Aston Villa Women at Kingsmeadow on Wednesday night.

The defending champions took the lead in the first half through a penalty from Pernille Harder and never looked back, with Sam Kerr adding a second just before the break.

Chelsea dominated the second half and added four more goals through Guro Reiten, Fran Kirby, Niamh Charles and an own goal from Villa defender Anita Asante.

The win moves Chelsea back to the top of the Women's Super League table, two points clear of Arsenal.

After the match, Chelsea manager Emma Hayes said: "I'm really pleased with the performance tonight. We started well and took our chances. We were a bit sloppy in the second half, but we still created a lot of chances and scored some great goals."

Aston Villa manager Carla Ward said: "We're disappointed with the result, but we can't fault the effort of the players. Chelsea are a top team and they showed their class tonight."
